ON A PERSONAL NOTE
In addition to my interior design business, as a typical woman/mom/wife, I love fluffing my own nest, home decor finds, home decor projects, a great bargain, DIY’s and most importantly creating quality time to spend with family and friends. This blog reflects all of these loves in my life.
In 1997 I began my own business and have been juggling the crazy world of being a small business owner, the demands of a successful, busy interior design firm and the challenges of raising a family ever since. Now, with my three children grown and married and four grandchildren I adore, the challenge of juggling it all still continues. But, I feel blessed beyond words and hope that in both career and family I have made a positive difference in people’s lives.
I firmly believe in the adage, “God first, family second, career third,” and though it’s a daily challenge I do try my best each and every day. And, when I fail……I take a deep breath, turn it over to the Lord and give it another go.
ON A PROFESSIONAL NOTE
I’ve been designing and decorating homes for over thirty years and started my own business in 1997. I have happily been an associate member of ASID (American Society of Interior Designers), IDS (Interior Design Society), and NKBA (National Kitchen and Bath Association) over the years. I have enjoyed creating spaces for each and every one of my clients that are both visually stimulating and functionally satisfying. Each project brought with it new challenges and each its own sense of satisfaction. I never grew tired of seeing the amazing transformation that takes place and the joy and satisfaction of my clients when a project was complete.
However, I am now joyfully entering a new season. I have found that as I enter into the “last third of my life” it is time for me to wind down and explore other areas of my life, spend more time with my grandchildren, return to weekly Bible Study and many other things I’ve had to put on hold over the years due to my business. I’m currently in the process of retiring over the next year and am officially “semi-retired”. I’ve committed to completing the projects I’m currently involved in and will spend the next year finishing these projects up. But, the time involved is cut to a minimum compared to the demands of a full time interior design business and it has allowed me to breathe again and stop and “smell the roses” as they say.
So while I have been blessed with a wonderful career that I loved for so many years I’m blessed now to have the opportunity to put it behind me and move forward with my life. I look forward to spending more time with family and friends, deepening my knowledge of the Bible and growing in my relationship with the Lord and just puttering around my own home – fluffing my own nest and gardening to my heart’s content! And, of course, blogging!
